Know Us Better

Our mission is producing challenging and unique films of artistic value

Established on December 31st, 2003 at Jakarta, Indonesia. Dapur Film intended to create a platform for upcoming filmmakers who would like to develop their talent in filmmaking and for those who want to learn about film production. Our goal is making good films in terms of commercial and quality.

We believe that movie is a industry for everyone. We learn and grow by teaching our future filmmakers (directors, writers, producers, actors/actresses) to make their own films, whether independent or commercial films. That is one of our goals. In our activities, such as workshop, we are a team of tutors of professionals in Indonesian filmmaker realm.

Hanung Bramantyo

Founder

Born in Yogyakarta, 1975. Graduated from Film & TV Faculty of the Jakarta Arts Institute. Won Best Director in Indonesian Film Festival 2005 and 2007. Directed succesful romantic comedy, horror, drama and lately focus on Islamic-themed movies.

His Islamic romance Ayat-Ayat Cinta (2008), gained 1.5 million audiences in the first 9 days. He would prefer to be known as a director who "fights against stupidity and ignorance" and does not feel that he is a religious filmmaker.

His films have been on both sides of the political spectrum, with his right-wing films more commercially successful, he is "intrigued" with leftist ideology.
